Before the ascension of the Tokugawa Shogunate, Japan was in the midst of tumultuous civil war. In Nioh, William, a Western samurai and sailer, lands in Japan and is enlisted by none other than Hattori Hanzō to defeat the yokai that have started to plague the land.
