This is the new action-adventure RPG developed by Tokyo RPG Factory and published by Square Enix. It takes place in a land where people are not able to properly honor the dead due to a belief that it's our grief which binds the spirits of the dead to our world and prevents them from moving on to the next. Watchers are the keepers of the Living World and the Beyond; they help the Lost sever their ties to the living world and send them on to their next journey. Oninaki follows the story of one Watcher who is bound by duty to sever the bonds that tie the Lost to this world. With Kagachi’s guidance, these wandering souls in the world of the Beyond can continue the cyclical process of reincarnation over again. The Watchers’ duty is to guide the Lost, the wandering souls of those deceased and not properly mourned.

Players assume the role of Kagachi. He "manifests" the souls of Daemons, which act as the classes found in traditional roleplaying games. Every Daemon has their unique power, skill set, and weapons – players must skilfully shift between them in real time to have the upper hand in the battle.

Oninaki is set to release on Switch, PS4, and PC this Summer 2019.
