In Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, you will choose one of thirteen different civilizations and guide it through a period of a thousand years of history that is divided into four ages - the Dark Age, the Feudal Age, the Castle Age, and the Imperial Age. As one of the precursors of the RTS genre and one of the most popular games of its time, it follows the standard mechanics that you can find in many other games. As you progress through the different levels of the campaign, you have to gather resources to create buildings and troops that you will send to explore the map and fight your enemies. When you have developed your civilization to a certain extent a, change of era will unlock new buildings, which allow you to recruit more powerful and advanced troops, or boost the combat capabilities of the troops in your army.
Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition comes with all the content DLC released for the original game, including The Conquerors, The Forgotten, The African Kingdoms, and Rise of the Rajas. It also features a new campaign called The Last Khans and four new civilizations that you have never played before: Bulgarians, Cumans, Lithuanians, and Tatars.
You can also jump to multiplayer online mode anytime, where your leadership and strategic skills will be put to a test against other players with 35 different civilizations.
