Since its initial announcement in 2018, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been highly anticipated by players, and that led to a huge success when it was launched. Released on March 20, the game has achieved record sales with more than 5 million copies sold in the United States and 3 million in Japan. With those figures, the new installment in the Animal Crossing series has managed to become the best launch for a Switch game.
Now that the turnip trade is currently in full swing, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players will be getting more content in the coming months, and the first free update arrives today.
The festivities begin with a temporary event called Nature Day which will continue until May 4. Two new NPCs will appear on your island. The first one, Leif, will sell new plants and can buy your weeds. The second is Redd, a slightly shady art dealer who will allow you to unlock a new wing of the museum. You can also participate in various activities and challenges to earn rewards, including Nook miles.
Then, from May 1 to 7, there will be a new event, the May Day Getaway which will take you to a mysterious island available only during this period via Dodo Airlines. Animal Crossing: New Horizons will then celebrate Museum Day, from May 18 to 31, by offering a stamp rally. During the event, you can visit museums to collect stamps and earn rewards. Finally, from June 1 to 30, you can celebrate love during the Wedding Season.
All of this upcoming content for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is completely free for all players. If you do not already have the game, you can get it at the best price on our comparator.
