Assassin's Creed Valhalla will have rap battles

Announced very recently and after months of all kinds of rumors, Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be released by the end of this year, also accompanying the release of the new generation consoles. Since it was revealed, a lot of information on about game has been leaked out. We have notably learned that the hidden blade, which is a favorite for the players of the Assassin's Creed series will indeed be back in this new installment, and that the map of the game should be larger than that of its predecessor.

In terms of new functionalities, Assassin's Creed Valhalla will not be outdone. We have already had an overview of the settlement, a sort of small Viking village that will serve as a real hub for players and which should play a central role in the game. But another feature has just been revealed, and it is quite surprising: Assassin's Creed Valhalla will integrate rap battles.

Yes, you did read correctly. That said, it's not about rap itself. Ashraf Ismail, creative director of the game explains all this to us in a video. The exact term is "flyting", which one could call "verbal jousting". Flyting is, in a certain way, the ancestor of what are now called rap battles, which is opposing two people who insult each other in rhythm and verse. Ashraf Ismail explains to us that it is a very old tradition that could be found in the Viking and Saxon cultures, and which took place during banquets for example. It's an activity in which we can take part in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Eivor will be heavily insulted and we will have to choose the best replica among several available choices. We also seem to be able to initiate these verbal contests.

We don't really know how important the flyting will be, but it will undoubtedly bring some rather fun moments and, above all, a new way of interacting with the characters.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be available later this year on Xbox One and Series X, PS4, PS5, and PC. You can already find it on our comparator.
