Baldur's Gate III will be in Early Access this year

Clearly, Baldur's Gate III is the main topic when talking about video games lately. Since his announcement last June, which had allowed us to see the first images of the game in the form of a cutscene, Larian had remained rather discreet. Things started to come alive with the Stadia community blog post that listed Baldur's Gate III among the games slated for 2020, and Larian saying that it was a mistake. Then, last week, we had confirmation that the studio was going to reveal gameplay footage at Pax East. All that roused the fans of the series, but today's news is probably make the expectations of those who are impatient to play Baldur's Gate III skyrocket to new levels.

Yesterday, It was held the New York Toy Fair, and Hasbro, which holds the rights of Dungeons and Dragons after the acquisition of Wizards of the Coast, has made a revelation that should please fans of the Baldur's Gate series. They announced that Baldur's Gate III will be available on Early Access via Steam starting in 2020. That's about all they revealed we don't know anything about a specific release, the content or the form that it will happen. It is a safe bet that Larian will take advantage of its attendance to Pax East on February 27 to give us more information on this subject.

Although this announcement is gratifying for all fans of the series, it is also quite surprising. Indeed, Baldur's Gate III is planned to be released exclusively on PC, via Steam, GOG, and Stadia, if the Early Access takes place only on Steam, this gives quite an advantage to Valve's platform, which is likely to win a good part of the players waiting for the game, and therefore sales.

This point may also be clarified during the gameplay presentation of Baldur's Gate 3 PC at Pax East. As a reminder, you can follow it live on YouTube, on February 27, from 9 p.m. CET.
