Blizzard starts fixing Warcraft III: Reforged with a huge patch

Warcraft III: Reforged has been the main topic in the news since it was released. Never before a game had such a low score on Metacritic and such a unanimous response from the players. The game is definitely not what the huge community of fans of the series expected and it has been voiced quite loud and clear through the week. From bugs and crashes to connectivity issues, cut-scenes that do not meet the expectations, a worse-looking UI, and a number of other problems, the number of troubles that the players have experienced have finally pushed Blizzard to take an unprecedented decision. Last it was finally announced that anyone who owns the game and is not satisfied with it is entitled to get a refund, no question asked. A statement on Battle.net leaves it crystal clear:

"Blizzard stands by the quality of our products and our services. Normally we set limits for refund availability on a game, based on time since purchase and whether it has been used. However, we want to give players the option of a refund if they feel that Warcraft III: Reforged does not provide the experience they wanted. So, we’ve decided to allow refunds upon request for the time being."

If you want to get such a refund you just need to visit this page on Blizzard's Support Site and request it. That said, if you are a fan of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and you believe that this remake has enough potential to be the game you wanted it to be you might want to hold your reins and arm yourself with a bit of patience.

Blizzard is already working on fixing Warcraft III: Reforged and a big update with 2 Gb of fixes has been already deployed. The first post-launch patch of the game doesn't fix all the problems and it definitely does not magically change the game into something that it is not, but it confirms that Blizzard is aware enough of the necessity of changes, while showing a strong intention of fixing things to make the game worthy of its name.

The patch is focused on bug fixing and it corrects some issues with Classic Mode. Cutscenes have been tweaked a bit, portrait animations have been adjusted and it's easier now to distinguish if you are playing Classic or Reforged mode in the menus. You can check the whole patch notes for the 1.32.1. version of Warcraft III: Reforged here, but you will find that there is still a lot of work to do, especially when it comes to online features in the game.

Everything indicates that the game is already on the road to being what it should have been when it was released.  Blizzard president J. Allen Brack talked about the developers' commitment to continue fixing the game:

"Our community has come to expect really amazing things from us and we've heard from them that we did not achieve that bar. But we stand behind our games and have consistently shown that not only do we support them, but we continue to build on them even after launch and we're committed to doing that here as well. So we're going to continue to update the game and we'll continue to update the community with our plans going forward."

With the prestige of the company at risk, we are sure that they will solve the problems in Warcraft III: Reforged as soon as possible.
