Daedalic shows The Lord of the Rings: Gollum for the first time

In March 2019, we learned that Daedalic Entertainment had obtained the rights to The Lord of the Rings license. Shortly after, they revealed that they were working on a new game centered around the character of Gollum. With the name The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, the game opts for an approach to the famous saga which is radically different from what we have seen before in some other games based on The Middle-Earth. Other than that, we didn't have much information on the game until now, especially on the visual side, because all we had been able to see so far was the logo of the game.

After a few months we can finally discover the first images of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. If you are one of those who are eagerly awaiting the game, do not jump too quickly to the ceiling, as it is not a video. However, you can delight yourself with a series of what appear to be gameplay screenshots that have been published on the German site Gamestar.

These images reveal a few things about The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, starting with the appearance of the protagonist. We also are offered a first glimpse of the graphic style and the overall atmosphere of the game. We can already see that we will be led to surrender in the heart of Mordor in this game, which is presented as an action-adventure with a strong narrative dimension. The images also show infiltration, but The Lord of the Rings: Gollum also seems to offer more platform-oriented phases, which are reminiscent of Styx. Finally, we also notice that the duality of Gollum will be an important aspect of the game, as announced by Carsten Fichtelmann, CEO of Daedalic, and it seems that we will be able to choose between the two facets of the character in certain situations. Note that The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will take place before the events in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

With these images, we can't wait to learn more about the next game from the creators of Deponia, and we hope to be able to watch a trailer soon, and why not, a bit of gameplay. We will probably have to wait for a while because The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is scheduled to be released in 2021 on PC and consoles.
