After the recent release of Halo: Combat Evolved on PC, 343 Industries is already working on bringing the next installment of the Halo series to this platform. This has been announced in a post on the official forums of the game, where the developers explain which are the steps they are following to continue updating Halo: The Master Chief Collection with the games that it is missing. They talk about their "flights", which is the way they refer to releasing early access builds to Halo Insiders before they reach the public.
Many of you already know this, but Halo 2 and Halo 2: Anniversary are now on deck for the next release to PC. With that in mind, the team is heads down on creating the spec for the next series of PC flights. We’re currently planning for our next flight to include content for Halo 2, Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo: Reach’s Forge & Theater for PC [...] Often things are rough around the edges and truly represent a work-in-progress. Building these games is a process and things can change. All of the content listed above may change and so may the timing, but if all goes well, we are targeting our next public flight for the end of March.
Halo Insiders a program created by 343 Industries to allow players to take part in the testing of their Halo games before they are open to the public. You can visit the official website and join the program if you are willing to give them a hand with the testing of Halo 2 and Halo 2: Anniversary once the testing period begins at the end of this month. Keep in mind that being a member doesn´t guarantee you access to the testing but it is your only opportunity to try the games before they are officially released.
There is no official date for the release of Halo 2 or Halo 2: Anniversary, but if we take into account that Halo Reach was released on PC a few months after the launch of The Master Chief Collection, we may be looking at a couple of months at least before the new games are available to the players on PC.
Halo 2 will offer us a new approach to the three-way conflict between the United Nations Space Command, the Covenant, and the Flood. We will be able to play as the Master Chief again but this time you can also play as ab elite Arbiter of the Covenant alien faction. That will offer us a wider variety of options when facing combat. The strong point of Halo 2 when it was originally released was its multiplayer, so we still have to wait to see what kind of options will this new game offers on that matter.
Halo 2 is included in the games of The Master Chief Collection, a package with the revamped versions of the most important games in the series.
