Unveiled last May during the Inside Xbox dedicated to the games that will be released on Xbox Series X, The Medium, which will be released at the end of the year on the next-gen console and PC, is one of the games that has drawn our attention.
Although the video shown at the event was quite enigmatic and didn't reveal much about the game other than that The Medium will be a psychological horror game, it was really impressive, especially due to the sublime graphics of the cinematic. Another point that has piqued the interest of players is the fact that it is reminiscent of an iconic game, Silent Hill. The Medium will also have a soundtrack to be remembered because it is composed by Arkadiusz Reikowski and Akira Yamaoka, the latter being the composer of Silent Hill music precisely.
A little more information about The Medium has been revealed today thanks to its appearance on the Microsoft Store. The game will put us in the shoes of Marianne, a medium with the gift of clairvoyance, and able to see the spirit world. In the game, we will be in charge of investigating an abandoned hotel in order to find answers to Marianne's visions of the murder of a child. Bloober Team had stated that the game would not be available on Xbox One due to a unique feature that The Medium will offer. And it seems that the game's page in the Microsoft Store just reveals this feature:
Never-seen-before and officially patented gameplay that plays out across two worlds displayed at the same time. Explore the physical world and the spirit world simultaneously, and use the interactions between them to solve dual-reality puzzles, unlock new paths, and awaken memories of past events.
Therefore, we will be able to explore both worlds of The Medium simultaneously. It is not yet clear how this will play out in-game, but visuals are already providing us with a glimpse of it. It's likely we'll find out more about The Medium during the Xbox Games Showcase event which takes place today.
