Developed by TaleWorlds, Mount And Blade received a warm welcome from players upon its release in 2008. Despite criticisms of its graphics which seemed a bit outdated at the time, the gameplay of the action-RPG game managed to hit the mark. You will be able to experience more of it soon in Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord.
In Mount and Blade, the first in the series, you move non-linearly, in the heart of the medieval kingdom of Calradia, where six enemy factions are in perpetual conflict. The game does not offer fantasy elements but as in many RPGs, you can create your own character and assign various skills depending on your gameplay style. Mount and Blade was a success, not only thanks to its realistic battles, but also because of the great freedom that it gives to the players who, if they wish, can become merchants, mercenaries, work for a lord or on their own account, participate in battles and sieges, and much more.
TaleWorlds has released other games for the series since the first installment, including Mount and Blade: Warband, which introduced multiplayer, but the original game has so far not had a sequel. Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord was first announced in 2012 and now it has eight years of development behind it. It seems that patience is the mother of virtue in this case but the wait is starting to be a bit too long for the fans of the series.
The closed beta of Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord has been running since last spring but it will now open to a broader audience. TaleWorlds promised early access for spring 2020 a while ago and they have kept their word, since the Early Access to Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord will be available via Steam, Epic Games and on the TaleWorlds website on March 31, 2020.
TaleWorlds has announced that they will provide more details by the time of the launch of the Early Access, which is expected to last one year, but you can already check out the Steam page of Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord, which outlines the features that will be present, as well as our comparator to purchase it at the best price.
