Star Wars: Squadrons is coming in October

Electronic Arts has made Star Wars one of it's flagships and it was quite clear that they had something in store for us after they finished with Star Wars Battlefront II. The universe created by George Lucas focuses on two very different aspects of the war between the different factions that are present through the saga. On one side we can find epic ground battles between armies formed by a mix of soldiers on foot and all kinds of vehicles. Star Wars: Battlefront II could be the best representation of these. On the other side, Star Wars is also famous for its space battles, which usually involve a mix of massive capital ships and a myriad of small starfighters. The new video game of the Star Wars license is going to focus on the later, and EA officially announced it yesterday with the following video.

Star Wars: Squadrons is all about piloting your small starfighter and battle enemy forces. Whether you choose to pilot an X-Wing or a TIE Fighter this new game will allow you to take part in strategic first-person 5v5 multiplayer dogfights alongside your squadron or fight for your faction in massive battles through the galaxy. Star Wars: Squadrons leaves behind the clone wars to focus on the final period of the Galactic Civil War when the New Republic forces have to face the mighty Empire in their fight for freedom. The game also features a single-player campaign and whatever side you choose, you will have several starfighters at your disposal and as you progress through the game you will unlock customization options for your starships.

We won't know more at least until next Thursday when we will be able to watch the first footage of Star Wars: Squadrons gameplay during the next EA Play event. The game will be available on October 2, 2020, on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, and it will also support VR on PS4 and PC with cross-play.
