Super Mario: what is Nintendo preparing for the 35th anniversary of the series?

Who would have thought that a certain Jumpman imagined in 1981 by Shigeru Miyamoto would become the most famous video game character in the world? If this name does not mean anything to you, it is because he did not keep it for very long, unlike his clothing, his red cap and his emblematic "Mamma mia" which are so characteristic of Mario.

The famous Italian plumber only became the phenomenon we know today in 1985 with the Super Mario series and he has continued to seduce players of all generations. It seems that to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the license, Nintendo has planned to do very big things. We already learned that the Super Nintendo World amusement park in Osaksa will open its doors this summer, and we recently discovered the LEGO Mario collection, which should also be released this year.

But this is apparently not all. Nothing that follows has yet to be officially confirmed by Nintendo, so take everything with a pinch of salt. Nintendo plans to release remasters of several games from the Super Mario series on Switch. The information comes from VGC and it has been confirmed by other media such as Gematsu or Eurogamer. The titles mentioned include Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy, as well as its sequel. These remasters could even be the subject of a compilation that would be titled Super Mario All-Stars 2. Rumors also suggest a new Paper Mario which is currently in development.

Fans of the series will no doubt be enthusiastic about this idea, but it still requires the confirmation from Nintendo. Since we already have some Super Mario titles on Switch, like Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario Maker 2 and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, we can also celebtate the anniversary by playing again to some of the titles mentioned.
