Total War: Warhammer II gets a new experimental mode

Total War: Warhammer II is one of the best strategy games in the genre and a favorite of the fans of the tabletop miniature games from Games Workshop. The sheer number of troops that you can field in the game is already impressive, but when you take into account the variety of units, each of them with their own skills and capabilities, the game provides a truly epic feeling to the players. Each of the factions present in the game has a good share of infantry, cavalry and artillery units that they can complement with heroes of all kinds, but at the same time, each of these armies feels completely different and allows for plenty of tactical options when engaging in combat. As you can imagine, keeping the combat balanced in Total War: Warhammer II is not an easy task. Every time a new unit or commander is released it can potentially alter that balance and, therefore, the developers have to be on their toes to address any possible issues as fast as possible.

There is always room for improvement and Total War: Warhammer II is getting now an experimental mode that will allow players to take part in the testing of all the new features and units that will be included in the game. The new Proving Grounds gameplay mode will be a laboratory for all the new additions that may be coming to the game. Whether they are finally included in the game or not, players will be able to try them and provide quite a valuable feedback to the developers.

“We’ve created an experimental beta called the Proving Grounds, where we’ve tinkered with various aspects of balancing across all the races, safely away from the main game. There’ll be some extreme changes, designed to push the limits of our balance understanding, and maybe we’ll find some that players enjoy enough for us to implement in the main game.”
