It was supposed to be announced at Gamescom this year but the new installment in the Plants vs Zombies series has leaked and we got to know about it earlier than expected. Electronic Arts registered Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville as a new trademark in Europe a few days ago and since then there have been a lot of rumors saying that this would be the new Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare. As you can see in the video that has been recently leaked, Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville features new types of plants and zombies engaged in what seems to be multiplayer battles, featuring all the elements to be a new Garden Warfare title.
The original Plants vs Zombies is a tower defense strategy game in which you place several types of plants in your garden to defend your home from waves of bloodthirsty zombies that want to eat your brain. The game was a huge success and it was followed by a sequel and then Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare made an apparition to turn the game into a first-person shooter where plants would fight zombies in various cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes.
Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare was followed by a sequel too, which added more types of plants and zombies, as well as new gameplay modes and multiplayer features. This year, we were expecting to see a third title in the Garden Warfare series but it seems that Electronic Arts has changed the name of the upcoming title and call it Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville. We don´t know yet if that means that the new game will have a different approach at the whole plants-against-zombies theme since the only information we have until now is the leaked video. We expect that Electronic Arts shows the game at Gamescom next week but the leak of the game could mean that they publish a statement about it earlier than that.
