A Plague Tale: Requiem gets a new trailer and release date

Those hyped for the sequel to the medieval thriller A Plague Tale: Innocence have something to look forward to later this year. Focus Entertainment and Asobo Studio have announced that A Plague Tale: Requiem is coming this October 18th. To make it formal, they even released a 10-minute long extended gameplay trailer, featuring a gorgeous world that’s bigger than the original’s:

Requiem takes place some six months after Innocence, with siblings Amicia and Hugo traveling to southeast France in search of an island that may hold the cure for Hugo, who is still not completely healed from their family’s illness. Unfortunately, soldiers are hot on their tail.

The original game was a stealth and puzzle game, but based on Requiem’s gameplay, there is now more focus on action, making it resemble a medieval The Last of Us. Stealth-killing soldiers is now a common tactic, with knives left around the environment for Amicia to use. She even gets to use a crossbow with bolts that can be upgraded for added effect. Hugo can still control rats that can overwhelm his targets, but you need to be careful. Despite everything that happened in the previous game, the rats are far from being your friends.

The game also features a skill progression system that depends on your actions. If you prefer direct combat, you will be offered fighting skills. If you prefer stealthy takedowns, you get skills that help you sneak and kill quietly.

A Plague Tale: Requiem is set to be released on October 18th for the PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Note that the Nintendo Switch version will be a cloud-based game.
