Yesterday's PlayStation Showcase left us with many surprises that we didn't expect at all. Alan Wake 2 is an adventure that the fans have been eagerly awaiting for so long that it feels almost unreal to see that it will be released anytime soon. That's why the announcement of a release date has been received with joy by so many players.
Developer Remedy has also revealed plenty of details about the sequel to the cult game from 2010 in a publication in the PlayStation blog.
"A string of ritualistic murders threatens Bright Falls, a small-town community surrounded by the Pacific Northwest wilderness. Anderson, an accomplished FBI agent with a reputation for solving impossible cases, arrives to investigate the murders. Soon the events spiral into a nightmare when she discovers pages of a horror story that start to come true around her. Somehow the events seem to lead to Alan Wake, the horror writer who went missing 13 years ago."
In Alan Wake 2 players will be able to choose between Saga Anderson and her fellow agent Alex Casey to experience their independent stories as two sides of a dark and twisted reality. They embark on a journey that will take them beyond the limits of their own sanity as they explore several locations, starting in a place that is well-known to the fans of the series: the small town of Bright Falls.
"Anderson’s story takes place in the Pacific Northwest, consisting of three hubs: the small town of Bright Falls, the stunning primordial forest surrounding the mysterious Cauldron Lake, and the run-down town of Watery. And finally, the Dark Place is a shifting, looping reality where Wake’s story takes place."
