Aliens: Dark Descent story trailer blends conspiracy and survival horror

With Aliens: Dark Descent releasing on June 20, Tindalos Interactive and Focus Entertainment have released a new story trailer to remind everyone that, yes, the Alien franchise is still one of the scariest games around. Check out their new Aliens: Dark Descent story trailer here:

Game over, man, game over

The trailer keeps the story mostly vague, but it does provide a few crucial details as well as more examples of gameplay.

It starts when the spaceship Otago crashlands on the planet Lethe, and when it is discovered that a Xenomorph was on board, it kickstarts something called the Cerebus protocol, which prevents all ships from entering and leaving the planet. Lethe winds up as a petri dish for an Alien infestation.

As usual, the Weyland-Yutani megacorp wants to get its hands on the Xenomorphs to expand their bottom line. As the colony director states, “She will be the bridge to a better humanity,” citing the aliens as a source of new kinds of medicines and weaponry.

Meanwhile, Pioneer Station deputy administrator Maeko Hayes is stuck on Lethe due to the Cerberus Protocol and must cooperate with the Colonial Marines to survive.

Aliens: Dark Descent is a real-time strategy game where you command a squad of Marines against Xenomorph face-huggers, drones, Praetorians, the Alien Queen, human commandos, and unexplained cyborg creatures that can seemingly walk unhindered among the Aliens. By using the Squad Behavior System, you can command your squad to intelligently react to threats without having to micro-manage each action. And unlike Alien: Isolation, you can kill as many Xenomorphs as it takes to help you survive.
