AMD has announced the prices of their latest Ryzen 9000 CPUs

AMD has finally announced the launch prices for its new Ryzen 9000 series PC CPUs, and their prices are slightly lower than the launch prices of the Ryzen 7000 series. The flagship Ryzen 9 9950X with 16 cores will be priced at $649, which is $50 less than the Ryzen 9 7950X, which launched at $699 nearly two years ago. The other products in the lineup are priced $20 to $50 lower than their equivalent Ryzen 7000 CPUs.

After a delay in the release of the Ryzen 9000 CPUs due to "excessive caution," the Ryzen 7 9700X ($359) and Ryzen 5 9600X ($279) will launch on August 8, followed by the Ryzen 9 9950X ($649) and Ryzen 9 9900X ($499) on August 15.

AMD promises a 16% increase in instructions per cycle (IPC) compared to the previous generation Ryzen CPUs, with significant performance improvements in both production tasks and gaming. AMD also introduced the new X870 and X870E motherboard chipsets for the Ryzen 9000 CPU series, but these motherboards will not be available at launch. Fortunately, the new Ryzen 9000 CPUs will work on any existing AM5 motherboard, a socket that AMD has committed to supporting until at least 2027.

The launch of AMD's new CPUs comes at a time when their main competitor, Intel, is facing issues with crashes and stability problems with their 13th and 14th generation desktop CPUs. Intel has identified the root cause of these issues and is expected to release a microcode fix in the coming weeks, but existing CPUs damaged by excessive voltage will need to be replaced. While waiting for a more reliable fix, you can also check out on our comparator to secure the finest deal on your next favourite game.
