AMD releases AFMF 2 preview drivers with optimizations for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2

AMD has rolled out an updated iteration of their AFMF2 Preview for Fluid Motion Frames. This latest version incorporates optimizations and stability enhancements to AMD's second-generation driver-level Frame Generation technology.

Fluid Motion Frames from AMD is a driver-based frame generation technology that operates across all games. It is a simple, one-step solution that enhances perceived performance in a wide array of games. Unlike DLSS 3 or FSR 3, it does not necessitate per-game integration. Moreover, it delivers improved image quality and reduced latency compared to the original Fluid Motion Frames driver technology.

Featuring enhanced image quality and reduced latency through AI-optimized enhancement, AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2 is compatible with all Radeon RX 6000 and 7000 Series graphics cards as well as AMD Ryzen Processors with integrated Radeon Graphics. AMD has introduced optimizations and stability fixes to the AFMF2 technical preview driver this week.

This latest preview driver release coincides with the launch of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, a game that does not initially support Frame Generation. While support for AMD FSR 3 and Nvidia DLSS 3 is in the works, AMD's Driver-Level Fluid Motion Frames technology is presently the only way to utilize frame generation with this highly anticipated release. AMD asserts that this new preview driver includes "improvements for Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2." Our testing confirms that this driver functions as intended with Space Marine 2.

AMD's new preview driver for Fluid Motion Frames 2 can be downloaded here. This preview driver will receive updates over time, and the technology it contains is expected to be incorporated into AMD's mainstream Radeon GPU drivers later this year. Additionally, AMD has confirmed that a new version of FSR 3 will be released soon. FSR 3 is AMD's higher quality, game-integrated frame generation and upscaling technology. Undoubtedly, AMD is gearing up for a significant Radeon Software push by late 2024. why not insert it to FSR2? why add another option to the table?
