Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is unveiled

Hidetaka Miyazaki, the creator of the Souls series, does it again. The FromSoftware president won Game of the Year in 2019 with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and now, again in 2022, with Elden Ring. It's a feat for few in the industry, but certainly deserving for Miyazaki with his groundbreaking games that shook the industry.

But before he was the creator of Soulsborne and the most critical name within FromSoftware, Miyazaki joined the company as a designer for another series, one of which was also present at TGA 2022: Armored Core. A world premiere by Bandai Namco and FromSoftware announced the return of the mecha series with Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon.

Bandai Namco also shared an official description of the new game in the series:

Dynamic, fast-paced mech action.

Based on the knowledge gained during joint development of their recent titles, Bandai Namco Entertainment and FromSoftware seek to deliver a new action game. By combining FromSoftware's longstanding expertise in mech games and their signature robust gameplay, Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will be a new action experience.

In Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, players will assemble and pilot their own mech with 3D maneuverability to move freely through three dimensional fast-paced missions. Take on difficult challenges and overwhelm your enemies with dynamic moves that make full use of ranged and melee combat. Players can enjoy a variety of actions that can only be truly realized with mechs.

The game's story covers a mysterious substance found on the remote planet, Rubicon 3, and was allegedly an energy source capable of expressively advancing human technology. However, this substance proved more dangerous than they ordered and caused a catastrophe, exploding the planet and its surroundings, creating a Burning Star System. Half a century later, the player finds himself embroiled in a race to conquer this substance again in Rubicon 3.

The franchise had been on hiatus since Armored Core V launched in 2012 for PS3 and Xbox 360. The sequel will launch in 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
