Apocalypse is a new event in Rainbow Six Siege

Seasonal events are a nice way of keeping things fresh in video games, and when it comes to shooters it's always good to introduce a bit of variety in the form of new maps or gameplay modes that change players' routine even if only for a limited time. Rainbow Six Siege has nothing to prove to its players since it's one of the most popular competitive first-person shooters available right now, but Ubisoft is going to spice it up a bit with a brand new seasonal event in which you will save the world in a very unusual way.

Apocalypse is a new event for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege in which players will be the last hope for humanity. A hundred years ago, a nuclear plant meltdown was the cause for the disappearance of human society as we know it and most of the planet is now a barren wasteland. Survivors have joined clans and two of them are struggling for the control of the last plant on Earth, a treasure that holds the secret to re-grow life on the planet. The event will pit two teams of four players in a new version of the Outback map. Defenders have to protect the plant container until time runs out, and they can move it through the map. Attackers will have to take control of the container, and to help them in their task they will be able to scan any room to find out if there is any defender inside.

As it usually happens with events in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, Apocalypse also serves as an excuse to introduce new cosmetic items into the game. You will receive a pack containing a few of them if you log in during the event and others will be obtainable with R6 credits and renown in the game. You can find personalized headgears, uniforms and weapon skins among these. Apocalypse is already available in Rainbow Six Siege and it will be running until May 18th, 2021.
