Bard’s Tale 4: Director’s Cut adds new content to the game

It's not unusual to get extra content in the form of commentary, visual updates or even cutscenes that didn't make it to the original game when we talk about Director's Cut editions. This time, the guys of inXile have decided to focus on launching a new version of The Bard's Tale 4: Barrows Deep that is more polished and free of bugs. It's not that the game was bad or anything, in fact, it's quite a decent RPG adventure, but it had some balance issues that ended causing it to have a rather rough launch.

This has been recognized by the developers and they have been working hard to improve The Bard's Tale 4: Director's Cut. In the words of inXile CEO Brian Fargo:

"Our fans pointed out areas that needed improvement and we got right to work to create a game they would really enjoy. We spent the last 8 months implementing a good 40 pages of improvement and adding additional content to give our fans a Bard's Tale they deserve."

The Bard's Tale 4: Director's Cut edition features a new high-level dungeon for the players to explore. The Royal Necropolis of Haernhold will put your party of heroes' skills to the test with brand new bosses and puzzles. As you can expect, you will find new equipment and weapons between the treasures that you will discover in this dangerous place.

But do not let the shinies cloud your judgment. The best additions that this new edition makes to the base game are the big overall performance improvement and new features like inventory filters or the option to save anywhere that altogether contribute to creating quite a more enjoyable gameplay experience.

The Bard's Tale 4: Director's Cut is free for all those that already have The Bard's Tale 4: Barrows Deep on PC. This new edition is also available for the first time on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Mac, and Linux.
