Battlefield 2042 will let you play custom modes

Yesterday's EA Play Live event came with a few surprises. We were hoping to receive a bit more information about Battlefield 2042 but the announcement of Battlefield Portal, one of the big features that the next installment in the popular first-person shooting series will include, has suddenly become the most anticipated part of the game. Battlefield 2042 was announced not too long ago and DICE is still revealing things about the game. It turns that Battlefield Portal will allow players to create, share and play customized gameplay modes with other players.

At first glance, it would seem that it will be a map editor but it's far from that. Instead of letting you create your own maps and such, Battlefield Portal will be one of the three main modes in Battlefield 2042 and it puts at your disposal a wide selection of maps, classes, and weapons from Battlefield 2042 and previous installments in the series, including Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 3 and Battlefield Bad Company 2. You can use those assets to create a custom Battlefield session and then invite players to play to it with you, open it to everyone, and even play against bots. This level of customization is unprecedented when it comes to the series and has created a lot of expectations among the fans of Battlefield.

Along with the reveal of Battlefield Portal, Electronic Arts has also confirmed that Battlefield 2042 open beta will take place in September. We already knew that the beta would be available ahead of the release and that you will have access to the beta a few days earlier if you have pre-ordered the game. You can find Battlefield 2042 at the best price on our comparator already, and it will release on October 22 on PC, as well as on PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
