Battlefield V Lightning Strikes update is already available

As the New Year rolls into full swing, EA is making good on its promise of delivering free content for their flagship FPS, Battlefield V.

Aptly named Lightning Strikes, this new addition will be the second downloadable content to the title since its release on November 2018. In the forefront of the update is a game mode called "Squad Conquest", which is a new mode described as "a tighter and more intense version of Conquest." With this new gameplay, 16 players separated into two teams of eight must duke it out on miniature versions of the Arras, Rotterdam, and Hamada maps, all of which will feature "more tactical layouts." As discussed by DICE, "A core belief behind Squad Conquest is a restricted number of variables to allow strategy to be able to exist--you have to be able to predict player behavior and patterns, which is reflected in all three map layouts."

Lastly, the developer has sprinkled in a plethora of new weapons to the game like the Zk-383 SMG for the Medic class, the Modele 1944 semi-automatic rifle for the Assault class, and the M1922 MMG for the Support class. These can be obtained by accomplishing the Weekly Challenges that will be set on January and February. A brand new vehicle fondly named the Tank Hunter, is also coming as part of Chapter 2.

So much more are in store as Chapter 2 gets fully realized. Next month, DICE will be implementing the cooperative Combined Arms mode, along with a new Grand Operation, Battle of Hannut. And when March arrives, we will be treated to the return of Rush mode for a limited time. Battlefield V's venture into the ever popular battle royale mode, Firestorm, is also in the works and will be arriving in March as part of Chapter 3.
