Beyond Good and Evil 2 not coming anytime soon

There are some video game series that fans need to be patient with, and that's the case with Beyond Good and Evil. It's been no less than eighteen years since the first game was released, and while there was a sequel planned from the start, it hasn't been that easy. Beyond Good and Evil was a real commercial failure, being released at the end of the year, the competition had an impact on the sales. On the other hand, the game was generally quite appreciated by gamers, and this is one of the reasons why Ubisoft finally decided to develop Beyond Good and Evil 2, despite the failure of the first opus.

But things got even more complicated. Beyond Good and Evil 2 was first announced in 2008 with a trailer, only to be quickly forgotten. Its second comeback took place at E3 2017, this time for good. Well, not quite. Although the game is under development, Beyond Good and Evil 2's journey remains quite chaotic and long. Four years later, the communication around the game is at a standstill, and the game's creator, Michel Ancel, even left the ship last year. Even if fans were assured that this departure would not change anything, there are reasons to be worried.

The latest news doesn't really help when it comes to gamers' concerns. Ubisoft has revealed its quarterly results, as well as a call to investors, and Beyond Good and Evil 2 is mentioned. Unfortunately, even when the fiscal year 2023-2024 is announced as a release window for the game, Ubisoft says it's still too early to talk about it. However, we are assured that development is ongoing.
This is all rather disappointing for the fans, who have been waiting for so many years and were hoping for the return of the franchise after the 2017 comeback.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 seems to be a game that will require a lot of patience, at the risk of losing potential players along the way.
