Blizzard celebrates Warcraft's 30th anniversary across the whole franchise

Believe it or not, it's been 30 years already since Humans and Orcs started a brutal war in the first Warcraft video game. Since then, the real-time strategy franchise has evolved quite a bit with the release of several more titles and expansions. However, the biggest change would arrive with the release of World of Warcraft, the first MMORPG set in the world of Azeroth, which was the most popular in the genre for many years boasting an unprecedented number of players. Later on, the Warcraft franchise would expand with other games, including Hearthstone, a card-based strategy game, and Heroes of the Storm, a MOBA that featured many heroes from all Blizzard's games.

Happy anniversary!

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Warcraft, Blizzard will host a special Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct event that will be streamed in just a few hours. You can watch it in the video embedded right below.

The event will showcase an overview of the full journey of the franchise through the last 30 years and focus on how it has changed over time. Also, Blizzard promises to announce updates with anniversary content for all the games in the franchise. Players can expect to be able to unlock exclusive items in Hearthstone and World of Warcraft, for example, but there will also be surprises for other games. Fans of the franchise will also be able to enjoy the World of Warcraft: 20 Years of Music concert after the event.

World of Warcraft may not be the top in its genre anymore, but the Warcraft franchise continues to be one of the most popular of all time for a reason. The lore of the franchise has grown and evolved over time and it's rich in thrilling stories and charismatic characters. If you still have to discover the Warcraft universe, all its games are available at the best price with our comparator, including the best deals on The War Within, the latest expansion for World of Warcraft.
