Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 teaser and logo revealed

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 teaser and logo revealed

After countless rumors swirled around the realm of social media, each vying for the spotlight with any shred of information about the next Call of Duty, it seems like we finally have official - or at least genuine - details about the upcoming entry in one of the world's most famous gaming series.

It all began with various teasers being released on the portal TheTruthLies.com, which shows a group ascending Mount Rushmore, a US monument, to cover the eyes of the sculptures of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln, former presidents of the country. Some channels are live, while others are offline. We speculate that new teasers will be released as time passes.

Next, many readers of the USA Today revealed that Thursday's (23) newspaper edition featured an advertisement of a vandalized Mount Rushmore. The logo of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 can be seen on the last sculpture. Still, this wasn't enough to indicate that the new game would indeed be a Black Ops or even that it would be the sixth-numbered title. However, other marketing pieces in the USA Today newspaper confirmed the name Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, ending the mystery.

In April, Microsoft announced a Showcase for June 9, followed by a [redacted] Direct. At the time, the image released was of a Cerberus, but it didn't take long for eagle-eyed fans to discover that it was an Activision announcement. Many speculations began about whether it would be a Call of Duty, but it was unclear if it would be a leading title or a Black Ops one. Now that the USA Today advertisement aligned its info with the site The Truth Lies, it's more than confirmed that this year's Call of Duty will indeed be Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. For comparison, in 2023 the series released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.

This announcement also confirms a debate within the Call of Duty community. Many argued whether Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War was or wasn't the fifth title. However, as the teasers from The Truth Lies apparently reference the Cold War game from 2020, which included multiple endings where the player could choose to tell the truth or lie about the antagonist Perseus, fans now believe that Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War is indeed the fifth entry and will be preceded by Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

If you still have doubts about this information, know that an official announcement is not far off through Xbox's channels. A showcase on June 9 promises to reveal more details about the next Call of Duty. In the meantime, if you want to check out another first-party exclusive from Xbox, check our comparator for the best CD keys on Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, a new game from Ninja Theory recently released.

Update: Moments after the logo was released, the official Call of Duty website confirmed the information and announced a full date reveal scheduled at the Black Ops 6 Direct that will take place right after the Xbox Game Showcase on June 9th at 10 AM PT.
