Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War is officially the new game in the series

During the last couple of months, there's been a lot of rumors and plenty of hints that pointed to the Cold War as the main theme for the next installment in the Call of Duty: Black Ops series. It's not been until yesterday that Activision has finally confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War will be this year's game and although it's not really a surprise the announcement will serve as the prelude to a series of reveals about what kind of features the new title will offer to the players. Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War has not been officially revealed and we will have to wait for a week until we know a bit more about it. On the other hand, you can already watch a video just published by Activision that gives us some insight into the historic scenario in which the game will take place.

The teaser does not directly provide information about Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War, but it narrates the story of the Soviet defector Yuri Bezmenov and talks about the famous Soviet spy "Perseus". Those are two characters with a relevant role in the historic events that took place during the Cold War, a period of intense tension between the United States and the Soviet Union that had a notable impact in most other countries all over the world and contributed to shaping the current geopolitical map.

August 26 has is the date chosen by Activision to officially reveal Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War, and we expect to see a new video that gives us more details about the game and that shows a bit of gameplay if we are lucky. We don't know what kind of approach the developers will take at the Cold War, and we highly doubt that Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War is going to become a spy game with stealth mechanics and the like, but it will be interesting to find out what kind of novelties it brings to the Call of Duty: Black Ops franchise.
