CD Projekt Red announces a The Witcher remake

CD Projekt Red was celebrating the success of Cyberpunk 2077 and announcing its expansion not too long ago. The studio also shared its ambitious plans for The Witcher series. These include a brand new trilogy and the introduction of multiplayer experiences, something that has been missing in all the installments released to date. The Polish studio got the whole community of The Witcher fans wondering about the new games and nobody saw yesterday's announcement coming. There is a remake of the first The Witcher game in the works!

The announcement was made via Twitter and it leaves no room for speculation. The new The Witcher remake will feature modern graphics as it's being created using the Unreal Engine 5. Those who played the original game know it's significantly different from The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at many levels. It feels more like a classic role-playing game, a bit darker and with two different camera angles. Still, it delivers an exciting storyline with several chapters that serve as an introduction to the world of Geralt of Rivia. If the remake modernizes the graphics and takes them to the level of The Witcher 3, we could be talking about a new big hit in the series.

In any case, the developer is not ready yet to spill the beans on the new The Witcher remake and we will have to wait for a while until we know more details. Hopefully, the studio will be sharing more information about any of their The Witcher projects soon. We will keep an eye on them and let you know as soon as it happens. Meanwhile, you can use our comparator if you want to accompany Geralt in any of his other adventures including The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which are among the best role-playing games of all time.
