Cyberpunk 2077 is likely to have expansions to expand the story

While Cyberpunk 2077 will not be released until April 16, 2020, it already looks like it will be a huge game with lots of replayability possibilities thanks to the incredible work CD Projekt Red is putting in. Now, we are already getting news about what is to come after the game is released. CD Projekt Red’s Alvin Liu seemed to indicate that Cyberpunk 2077’s expansions will be similar in style and scope to the ones released for The Witcher 3 in an interview with Prima Games:

"We are talking about expansions in the future. We want to make sure everything’s complete, but we also want to build open worlds. I know when I was playing The Witcher 3 and I finished everything, I still want to know what everyone was up to. I think we’re going to have opportunities like that as well for Cyberpunk 2077."

If we can expect something similar to what the two expansions for The Witcher 3, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are, then we are definitely in for a lot of playing time and all-new story arcs.

In the same interview, Liu went so far as to promise that it will be all new content and that no resources are being held back and taken from the main game to make those DLC's.

"It’s a very satisfying story arc, right? You’re going to see characters and you’ll see them develop. You’re going to see them go through conflicts and resolve those conflicts. It’ll be a very rewarding ending. We’re not withholding content, we’re not withholding story for the future to try to, you know, monetize it or sell it in pieces or anything like that. You’re going to get the whole, full value game here."

Cyberpunk 2077 post-launch content and expansions are expected to contain lengthy and new storylines Even if it is a single-player game that plays out from a first-person perspective, CD Projekt Red is partnering with Digital Scapes for Cyberpunk 2077’s multiplayer component. This feature is quite likely to not be appearing at launch – it might be released in an update after the game is out. Digital Scapes is the studio behind Dying Light’s Be the Zombie mode, so we can only hope for the best.
