During a special broadcast this Tuesday (15), CD Projekt Red revealed the gameplay of Cyberpunk 2077 running on the new generation of consoles, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The new features come in patch 1.5, which also brings three free DLC.
The gameplay trailer shows a more polished version of Cyberpunk 2077, which had numerous technical problems at launch. It shows the whole game running at 60 fps and good image quality. According to the official information, the game's next-generation patch also brings ray tracing, dynamic 4K, faster loadings, and other technical improvements.
During the broadcast, CD Projekt Red revealed that the PS5 and Xbox Series X will have two modes: Performance and Ray Tracing. In Performance mode, both consoles will run at 60 fps and in 4K, with Screenspace Reflections on Medium and at half the resolution. On the other hand, Ray Tracing mode brings 4K resolution and ray tracing shadows, Screenspace Reflections on High and at half the resolution, but running at 30 fps.
However, both modes feature dynamic resolution and can fall below 4K in pixel count at stress points. The Xbox Series S has only one mode: 1440p, 30 fps, and no ray tracing.
The developers introduce the new patch 1.5 and several additions. They showed off more of the skill tree rebalancing and new gameplay features. Among the refinements, CD Projekt Red highlighted changes to the player Perks, which are now substantially different to offer different playstyles, combat, and the economy.
Another point that the company revealed was improvements in the quality of life and in various elements of Night City, whether in the scenery, vehicles, or even NPC behavior.
The first improvement cited was changing the traffic behavior in the metropolis, which reacts to the player's aggressive conduct. For example, suppose the protagonist shoots in the middle of the street. In that case, cars may flee in panic and cause accidents and generate behaviors more realistic to the situation. The same principle applies to citizens who may or may not fire back at you.
The first-person cameras while driving has been redesigned. Motorcycles now flair neon wheels that can be activated, and there are better filters in the menus to guide yourself better in Night City. Other minor tweaks are redesigned menus to change the day hour and much more.
CD Projekt Red revealed Cyberpunk 2077's first free DLCs after being delayed. New weapons and attachments; new hairpieces and lipstick options for protagonist V and mid-game appearance change; option to customize V's apartment, and buy new houses in Night City.
Apparently, it's finally time to buy Cyberpunk 2077 without worrying about bugs or other game-breaking issues. If you want to try the game, there is a free demo available on the PS Store and the Xbox Store that allows you to play the game for five hours. It will be available until March 15 only.
