You can start playing the game on your PlayStation 4 or Xbox One and migrate your saved games on your PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S respectively. So, even if you are still waiting for the delivery of your brand new console or you are planning on buing ot later, you will be able to play it on your old console without losing any progress. Of course, you may prefer to start your adventure from the beginning to enjoy the enhanced grahics on the new generation of consoles, but not having to lose your progress when you switch is definitely a bonus.

You need to remember that if you play Cyberpunk 2077 at launch on your PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S you will be playing the same version of the game via backward compatibility. The version specifically designed to take advantage of the capabilities of the new consoles won't arrive until 2021. Even if the graphic quality is still better at launch on the new consoles, it's not as good as it's going to be later.

External storage, local-area network, and upload to the cloud will be the three options avaiilable to transfer your Cyberpunk 2077 saves from one system to another.
