Darkest Dungeon II's new Kingdoms mode has a release date

Darkest Dungeon II was built with the success of its iconic predecessor in order to create a unique gameplay experience that mixes strategy, turn-based tactics and roguelike mechanics. The game modifies many aspects of the original Darkest Dungeon and offers a more streamlined experience. Like the first game, which received an expansion that introduced a new gameplay mode with The Color of Madness, developer Red Hook Studios is about to add the Kingdoms mode to Darkest Dungeon II. The big difference between the two of them is that Kingdoms is going to be available for free to all those who own the base game.

Defend your lands

Kingdoms will add a significantly different type of experience. Players will have to develop a territory of their own while defending it from the attack of new enemy factions, including The Coven, Beastmen and Crimson Courtiers. The new gameplay mode promises to be an interesting addition that the fans of the game are eager to discover. It was presented a while ago, and since then, all Darkest Dungeon II players have been wondering about its release date. Well, Red Hook Studios has finally revealed that Kingdoms will be added to the game via a free update in a couple of months, on January 25, 2025, to be more precise.

Alongside the release of Kingdoms, a brand new DLC called Inhuman Bondage, which will feature a new region for players to explore in their adventure, the Catacombs, and a new hero that will be quite familiar to the fans of the first game, the Abomination.

With those two additions, Darkest Dungeon II will offer new ways to play the game as well as more tactical options than ever.
