Destruction Allstars is one of those PlayStation 5-exclusive titles that was announced when Sony's console was officially presented this summer. It's a destruction derby game that will pit you against other players in intense vehicular combat. The game is all about trying to stay alive while "causing colossal amounts of damage, destruction, and devastation in vibrant arenas across the globe". Of course, developer Lucid Games has added an interesting twist to the mix in this case. In Destruction Allstars you will be able to stay in the competition on foot when your vehicle is destroyed.
Each of the 16 playable characters in Destruction Allstars has unique abilities that will be very useful when they are driving. You can now watch them in action in a brand new video that introduces some of the drivers and allows you to take a peek at their abilities. Making your vehicle grow lethal spikes, covering it with a reinforced plate, or generating soundwaves to protect your car from collisions are just a few examples. If you pair those abilities with aggressive driving skills you have a very good chance of becoming a Destruction Allstars champion.
You will be more vulnerable when you are not driving a vehicle but as you can see in the video, that does not mean that you can not give your opponents a run for their money using your skills and agile parkour movements to make them crash and maybe even steal their vehicles. You can also take part in online multiplayer matches for up to 16 players in Destruction Allstars if you want to put your skill to the test against other people.
The launch of Destruction Allstars was originally scheduled for November 2020, but it was delayed and now the game is supposed to be one of the free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers in February. No release date has been officially confirmed yet.
