One of the most important news revealed during this year's Blizzcon online event is not about Diablo 4, Overwatch 2, or even the ever-present World of Warcraft. The announcement of a remastered version of Diablo II was enough to make the fans of the popular action role-playing game series forget about anything else. Even though there were rumors saying that Diablo II: Resurrected would be announced ahead of the reveal, the official confirmation along with the reveal of a video and some details about the game caught all the attention of those that were watching the event from their respective homes. But the best part about the announcement was knowing that we won't have to wait for a long while until we can play Diablo II: Resurrected. Diablo 4 will need quite a bit longer until it's ready, and what could be better than playing a new version of the game that made the series really famous to have fun while the new installment arrives?
Moving fast forward, there is still no official release date for Diablo II: Resurrected and the hype about the game is as high as ever. Blizzard aims to release the game in 2021 and it may happen earlier than we think because there is already some news about the upcoming test phases. Diablo II: Resurrected lead producer Chris Lena has confirmed in an interview with PCGamesN that there will be two alpha tests that will focus on the single-player and multiplayer aspects of the game respectively.
“We’re going to start with a single-player technical alpha, and then we’ll have a second technical alpha after that, which is kind of multiplayer and stress testing.”
Those tests will provide very valuable info to the developers and it would be great to be able to participate in them to discover how is the new Diablo II: Resurrected. You can sign up to join the technical alpha of the game by visiting the official website. Even like that, if the developers are already talking about test phases it means that the game is not in the early stages. Therefore, it's quite possible that we could find ourselves treading the dangerous lands of Sanctuary earlier than we initially thought.
