Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero receives a trailer highlighting the Android Saga

Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, this time focusing on the famous Android Saga and all the key players involved. The first characters to appear in the trailer are Trunks (Sword) Super Saiyan, Mecha Frieza, and King Cold, and for those familiar with the anime, we’re hoping Frieza and his father last more than five seconds in a fight against Trunks. Next up are members of the Red Ribbon Army, including Dr. Gero, Android 19, Android 18, and her brother, Android 17, followed by Piccolo, now fused with Kami.

The trailer then shifts focus to the main antagonist of the Android Saga, Cell, in his first form, who quickly gets beaten by the following featured character, Android 16. Following this, Cell absorbs the androids, transforming into his second form and then his perfect form, which he’s best known for. It’s worth noting that despite the numerous variations and transformations, the characters in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero in their different forms won’t be marginally stronger than others, as expressed in the anime. Each form will have its unique skill set, but it’s still possible for a Tien Shinhan to defeat Jiren, for example.

The preview also offers a glimpse of Gohan (Teen) Super Saiyan and the character Cell Jr. before showcasing Gohan (Teen) Super Saiyan 2, the hero of the arc. The trailer ends with Perfect Cell after he has absorbed Goku and learned to use his signature technique, the Kamehameha. The video wraps up by showing the Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero roster expanding, though still leaving some blank spaces, hinting at future reveals, possibly from the Majin Buu saga and, who knows, maybe even Dragon Ball GT.

Reportedly, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero will feature a roster of 164 playable characters, the largest thus far in any game of the franchise. For comparison, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 had a total of 68 characters, while Dragon Ball FighterZ had 44, including DLCs. Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero will cover nearly every arc of the franchise, including all the involved characters and the various forms they can take.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is set to release on October 11, 2024, for PlayStation, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game is considered the successor to Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi and promises to bring back all the nostalgia and essence of the classic fighting game.
