Dragon's Dogma II oficially announced

During the broadcast dedicated to celebrating 10 years of the Dragon's Dogma series, Capcom confirmed that it has begun development on an official sequel. Without revealing many details about the title, the Japanese company confirmed that it will again be directed by Hideaki Mitsuno.

In addition to releasing the official logo for Dragon's Dogma II, the developer confirmed that it will be created using the RE Engine. Initially applied in the Resident Evil series, the technology has been expanded to the company's main series and has already been used in titles such as Street Fighter 6 and Devil May Cry 5, the latter also directed by Mitsuno.

The commemoration video also told Hideaki's trajectory, from joining Capcom to his desire to create a high fantasy action-RPG single player, but with aspects like playing online with friends. The event was nostalgic and enlightening, although its live presentation was overshadowed by the 25th Anniversary celebration of Final Fantasy VII and its unique announcements like Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion.

No plataforms confirmed so far

Capcom also confirmed that the team responsible for the project will be joined by Daigo Ikeno and Kenichi Suzuki, two key members of the original game. On the downside, fans will have to wait a considerable amount of time to learn more about the sequel, whose development progress is still unclear.

The first game in the series debuted in 2012 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, drawing attention for its combat system and monster-filled open world. The title was given a Dark Arisen version in April 2013, which brought a host of additional content and new challenges - the last release yielded adaptations for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Another aspect of the sequel that remains a mystery is the platforms it will arrive for. However, considering Capcom's recent history, it's a sure bet to believe that Dragon's Dogma II will come simultaneously for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. And you know where to find the best Dragon's Dogma II deals when that time comes.
