Elden Ring: Nightreign will leave some classic mechanics out

Despite the incredible success of Elden Ring, developer FromSoftware is determined to change a formula that has provided the studio with countless fans through its long history of releases. Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and then Elden Ring, accompanied by unexpected hits like Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon have made the Japanese studio known worldwide. Now, Elden Ring: Nightreign will build on the success of its predecessor but offering a brand new scenario focused on delivering an exciting multiplayer experience that you can enjoy over and over. The game dynamics will be quite different, as you will have to survive for three days in a scenario, facing countless enemies and a boss at the end of each day.

Not the same

Elden Ring: Nightreign will offer a setting that will be quite familiar to the fans of the series. However, the differences in gameplay mechanics will be significant when compared to Elden Ring. Maybe not so much in combat dynamics, as the game will be as difficult as players are used to, but there are other details that will set it apart from previous games in the franchise. FromSoftware has revealed that one of the features favourite of the fans of the series won't be present in Nightreign, for example. Anyone who has played Dark Souls knows it's possible to leave messages for other players. However, even though you will continue to see other people's ghosts in the game, the option to leave messages for them won't be available in Elden Ring: Nightreign.

There's been some controversy in the past regarding this specific feature, as certain players used to grief others a system that was created to leave warnings and advice for other players. In a cooperative multiplayer scenario, with no invasions or PvP, leaving out such a feature will not have a severe impact in any case. However, its removal indicates that the developers are not afraid to make changes in order to drive the series forward and offer a different type of experience.

We keep discovering more details about the game as time passes, and it looks more and more interesting every day.
