Elden Ring wins coveted fantasy award

Elden Ring keeps proving that there is no game quite like it. Elden Ring has won the 2023 Nebula Award for best writing, an award it shares with the likes of Hades and The Outer Worlds. This is the first Nebula award for its director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, and the third for author George R. R. Martin, who helped develop the game’s sprawling lore. Elden Ring beat out other game nominees Pentiment, Horizon Forbidden West, Stray, Vampire the Masquerade—Sins of the Sires, and Journeys through the Radiant Citadel.

FromSoftware can add the Nebula Awards to the pile Elden Ring made last year, which includes Game of the Year at The Game Awards, The Golden Joystick Awards, and the DICE Awards.

But more good news comes from Bandai Namco. Elden Ring has sold 20.5 Million copies after 14 months since it launched in February 2022. While the game is expected to have slower sales as the year goes on, it is only a few million copies shy of becoming one of the best-selling games of all time, alongside such greats as God of War and Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Elden Ring’s upcoming expansion will likely help it get there. As we’ve reported before, its DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, is due for release sometime this year. Since it was announced last February 2023, rumors have been rife over what the expansion will reveal, mainly if it will involve the missing demigod, Miquella.

Meanwhile, FromSoftware’s next project is the mecha action game Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, launching on August 25, 2023. You can pick up a PS5 code from our comparator, or if you haven’t tried FromSoftware’s masterpiece yet, grab an Elden Ring as well an Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree PS5 key.
