Fallout 76 says goodbye to Steam

Bethesda Softworks have confirmed that the upcoming Fallout 76 will not be available through Valve's gaming platform. Neither the full game of one of the most anticipated games of the year nor the beta will be released on Steam. Both of them will be downloaded and played through Bethesda.net. That way Bethesda joins the increasing number of companies (Epic and Activision for example) that have decided to use their own launcher for launching big titles instead of making them available to the public through Steam. There had been some speculation about this on the precedent weeks since the Steam logo wasn't showing anywhere on the official website, but now it has been officially confirmed by Bethesda and even clarified on the page of the beta.

We don't know if Fallout 76 will be available on Steam later in time like Fallout Shelter did, but at least we have also learned something interesting. Those that join Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. (an acronym for Break it Early Test Application) in October, will be able to enjoy the full game, and their progress will be saved for the game launch on November 14 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. So you will be able to play the game one month ahead of launch if you join the B.E.T.A., and if you keep in mind that the event will not be under NDA, we pretty much are talking about a limited full release ahead of the official launch date. Do you think that this new tendency of not launching games through Steam will increase? Is this the beginning of the end for Valve?
