The second part of the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo is available

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is closer than ever, and Square Enix is trying to hook players in any way possible. Today, the publisher released an update to the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo titled "Dawn of a New Era in Junon." This free demo expands on the earlier "Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim," released earlier this month, and gives a glimpse of the vast and expansive world awaiting players in the most anticipated game of 2024.

"Dawn of a New Era in Junon" is a free update to the existing demo and shows Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Aerith, and Red XIII emerging on the outskirts of Junon, a fortified fortress with an underwater power plant. Set several hours into the main story, this special preview made specifically for the demo features a small part of the game's enormous world that players can freely explore. Find treasures with a loyal Chocobo, craft valuable items with the new Item Transmuter, and witness the cast's first encounter with Wutai ninja Yuffie Kisaragi.

The new update will also improve visual fidelity in performance mode, as promised by Square Enix. There's also a taste of the open-world tasks, a feature given by the returning character Chadley. He promises to fill Final Fantasy VII Rebirth with content. Combat assignments are missions that put the party against monsters around the map while completing tasks during the battle, such as killing the enemy before a time limit or staggering them.

Now is the perfect time to download the two-part demo to prepare for the global release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Players who complete the first part, "Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim," will receive the Kupo Charm and Survival Set and can skip the same section in the full game upon release, allowing players to start the adventure early. Alternatively, if players prefer, they can experience the section again.

Saved data from the "Dawn of a New Era in Junon" section cannot be transferred to the entire game, as the content has been adjusted for a more compact experience. Fans and newcomers can experience new forms of exploration while using powerful synergy attacks and witnessing the bonds between characters expressed during combat – new features that enhance the combat introduced in Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be available for PlayStation 5 on February 29, 2024. It is a timed exclusive and is expected to have a PC version arriving in the future.
