Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's new update enhances the RPG on PlayStation 5 Pro

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's new update enhances the RPG on PlayStation 5 Pro

The PlayStation 5 Pro is officially launching on November 7, but some users, content creators, and press already have Sony's new console in hand. The PS5 Pro promised to boost the performance and graphics of numerous selected titles, including Square Enix's Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The RPG has already received a new update to align with the PS5 Pro's technical specifications.

The new Final Fantasy VII Rebirth update also includes changes for the standard PS5, though the most significant visual and graphical enhancements are reserved for the PS5 Pro. Square Enix released this update to prepare the game for the console's launch and shared a video showcasing the enhanced visuals.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Adds Versatility Mode

The new graphic setting, Versatility Mode, was specially optimized for the PS5 Pro, aiming to deliver an enhanced visual experience with 4K resolution and a 60 frames-per-second frame rate, according to analysis by Digital Foundry. The update also includes bug fixes and improvements in stability and functionality, aiming for smoother performance across various platforms, including the base PS5.

An unlisted video on Square Enix Japan's channel briefly showed Versatility Mode in action. With refined visuals, the mode aims to elevate the graphical and performance experience for PS5 Pro users, meeting current standards. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was released to both critical and public acclaim and is already nominated for the 2024 Golden Joystick Awards. However, many players noted that in performance mode, the JRPG's graphics left something to be desired, especially in scenery details or backgrounds. The PS5 Pro's enhanced mode aims to address all these issues.

Sony promised that over 50 games will be enhanced for the PlayStation 5 Pro at the console's launch, with many more to come. These include Sony's first-party games like Horizon Forbidden West and The Last of Us Part II Remastered, as well as third-party titles such as Baldur's Gate III, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and the recently launched Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Each game will receive different boosts—some will focus on higher frame rates while maintaining 4K resolution, and others might even reach up to 120 FPS.
