Final Fantasy VII Remake shows its gameplay

More than twenty years after its release, Final Fantasy VII still remains one of the most popular titles in the Final Fantasy series and even among the JRPG. In 1997, it was the first episode to be released on Playstation 1 and was also the first to be in three dimensions. It was so successful that it sold more than 9 million copies and greatly helped to make the JRPG popular around the world.

It's nothing surprising then that Final Fantasy VII Remake is today one of the most anticipated games by fans of the genre. After being announced for the first time in 2015, the news about Final Fantasy VII Remake have been scarce until a year ago, when the communication has resumed on the game. It will be divided into three parts, and the first one will be released on March 3, 2020, on Playstation 4. On the occasion of the Tokyo Game Show which ended yesterday, we were able to know a little more about the game.

Of course, the graphic level of Final Fantasy VII Remake is at another level compared to the original game, and that's not surprising since it uses Unreal Engine 4. But Final Fantasy VII Remake will not only benefit from a simple redesign. Split into three parts, Square Enix declared that the first component alone will represent the equivalent of an entire game in terms of lifespan and content, which brings us to a crucial point, history. If the game expands the content of the original story, it is not a simple remake, because new scenario elements will be present in the game.

But let's focus on one of the essential elements of the game and the one about which many players are wondering: the gameplay. Unlike its predecessor, Final Fantasy VII Remake will include more dynamic fights and other new features. While the Normal and Easy modes offer a new combat system, the Classic mode will use the turn-based combat system typical of the Final Fantasy series. The most nostalgic players will be delighted with this news because it is a point that left more than one perplexed in the trailer shown during the last E3. In the 40-minute gameplay video from the TGS that you can watch below, you can see Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith in action against Aps, and discover some of their abilities and attacks.

To learn more about Final Fantasy VII Remake we will have to wait a little longer, but all this looks promising. It remains to be seen if this remake will satisfy the most faithful fans of the series.
