Final Fantasy XIV's Dawntrail expansion has been delayed because of... Elden Ring

Final Fantasy XIV has been a tremendous success for Square Enix, garnering immense love from fans since its release. Therefore, there were high expectations for the upcoming Dawntrail expansion of the game.

At last, fans eagerly awaiting the release date of the Dawntrail expansion can rejoice. Producer Yoshi P announced at PAX East that the early access version of the game will be available on June 28, with the full version launching on July 2.

However, Yoshi P also revealed that initially, their team had planned to release Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail a week earlier but had decided to delay it due to the upcoming Elden Ring DLC: Shadow of the Erdtree, scheduled for release on June 21:

"With this early access start date, we actually wanted to start it a week earlier." Said Yoshi P, "We figured everybody would be interested in playing the Elden Ring DLC. So I’ll give you one week to enjoy the Elden Ring DLC and then just go into your summer vacation into Dawntrail." Yoshi P jokingly said more:"Just want to make it clear, it's not because i want to play Elden Ring DLC and then play Dawntrail or anything."

The upcoming DLC for Elden Ring is perhaps one of the most anticipated releases of the year, so this decision seems like a wise move from the Final Fantasy XIV team, and having a producer who understands gamers like Yoshi P is certainly a delight for many. While detailed information about the Dawntrail expansion is still not available, the trailer and interactions from the producers have left fans eagerly anticipating it.
