The Flagellant returns in Darkest Dungeon 2

Developer Red Hook Studios has been adding content to Darkest Dungeon 2 since the game entered Early Access quite a few months ago. The game is now quite different from the experience that players could enjoy when it first was playable. The studio has been listening to the feedback received from the players and making adjustments. The whole progression system was revamped a few months ago, and now you have to unlock additional character classes and features by collecting candles while playing the game. It feels more entertaining and offers you far more customization options and paths to progress than the original system that just allowed you to unlock abilities for each class by finding altars and solving puzzles.

The fans will see the return of many familiar faces in Darkest Dungeon 2, at least when it comes to the heroes, who will be much more than cannon fodder in this installment of the series. Most of the classes you could find in Darkest Dungeon will be available to recruit in its sequel but there is a notable exception to the rule: the Bounty Hunter. You will only be able to recruit him as a member of your team if you find a picture at an inn, and he will never be available to you as part of the starting party.

A madman with a liking for pain

Red Hook has now revealed all the heroes that will be available in Darkest Dungeon 2, and the latest addition to the roster is a favorite of the fans: the Flagellant. The new version of the brutal Flagellant has a new batch of abilities that focus on causing Blight instead of Bleed to o damage his foes. He will be a valuable addition to any team and continues to be one of the most resilient and dangerous characters in the game, especially while at low health.

"Through sheer force of will, the Flagellant survives on the furthest fringe of mortality. He savours the sensations of perpetual, unending death. As his body began to rot, his blood and organs became septic, and his power began to reflect a toxic, necrotic archetype."

With the Flagellant, a total of 12 different heroes will be available in Darkest Dungeon 2, offering you plenty of possibilities to create a team that can handle a perilous journey through unexplored lands that will most likely end with you all dead, insane, or worse.

The game is slated for a release on May 8 and you can get your Darkest Dungeon 2 PC key at the best price with our comparator and play the game on Early Access already.
