We didn't see this one coming. The release of the next installment in the popular sports management simulation series Football Manager was scheduled for late November. Football Manager 25 will be a breath of fresh air for the franchise as it will incorporate significant novelties. Among the most noteworthy ones, players who delve into the new experience will see the addition of Women's Football, with plenty of new female players, teams, and competitions. Also, Football Manager 25 will feature new and enhanced graphics thanks to a change of engine. The developer studio has abandoned the previous one to use the Unity engine, in order to provide players with more realistic graphics and a more immersive experience.

With those features, the sizeable community of fans that love the series was eager to play Football Manager 25 next month. However, a recent announcement from Sports Interactive has generated a huge disappointment in the community.

A few months longer in development

Sports Interactive has delayed the release of Football Manager 25 to March 2025, which is almost half a year later than the expected date. The developer studio has revealed that it really needs more time to polish the experience as the introduction of the new features is proving to take longer than they expected initially. In order to offer players the appropriate level of quality with the game, they will have to work for a few months longer on bringing the game's performance up to the intended standards.

 

 

Of course, this came as an unpleasant surprise to all those who pre-ordered Football Manager 25, especially those who were eager to know more about a possible Anticipated Access period on PC/Mac. The studio will keep that period in place for those entitled to it, but it will also be delayed in time to match the new release date. Also, a new gameplay reveal has been scheduled for next January.
