Avengers: Endgame, the biggest movie of 2019 is coming to theaters around the globe and fans are more than excited to finally witness the final installment of the series. The battle between Thanos and the all-star cast of Marvel heroes is coming to an end. To promote the movie, Epic Games have once again teamed up with Avengers. Epic using Fortnite as a way of promoting a movie like this is nothing new, as they did it with Infinity War last year. Back then, Fortnite developers added the Infinity Gauntlet to the game and players had the chance to play as Thanos for a limited time.
Fortnite’s official Twitter account made the announcement with a FortniteXAvengers hashtag. The crossover teased in Twitter kicks off on April 25th, just one day before Avengers: End Game hits the theaters. There’s very little information of the crossover except for the image of a Fortnite character wielding Captain America’s shield and the tagline that says, ‘whatever it takes.’ Unfortunately, Epic Games did not reveal anything as to what to expect or how they’re going to deliver this collaboration, but we can reference last year’s example in Infinity Gauntlet mode.
As mentioned earlier, players could transform into the MCU villain Thanos and make use of the incredible powers of the Gauntlet. They had to rush to defeat others into getting the Infinity Gauntlet first, and that wasn´t always an easy task. In the open letter of the Russo brothers, the directors of Avengers: Endgame have kindly asked the fans not to spoil the movie experience for others who are going to watch the movie at a later time or date. If the event could show anything related to something that specifically happens in the movie and that could be considered as a spoiler that may be the reason why Epic is so secretive about the event.
Aside from this collaboration with Marvel, Epic is also having a busy time with Fortnite as they prepare for the game’s next big seasonal update and the upcoming Fortnite's World Cup Online Open finals this July where they are handing out $30 million in prizes.
