The Ys series has been transporting players to an amazing world of epic fantasy for quite a few years already, and it plans to continue doing the same for a bit longer with the worldwide version of Ys IX: Monstrum Nox. The new installment in the series was released in Japan for PlayStation 4 in 2019 but it won't be available in the rest of the world until next month. Fortunately, it will be available on Nintendo Switch and PC later this year. The new version of the game has been developed by NIS America and it is possible to give it a try for free right now since there is a demo version of Ys IX: Monstrum Nox that you can download from the PlayStation Store.
Even though it does not grant you full access to the game and your exploration will be limited to a couple of locations, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox demo should be more than enough for you to discover what it has to offer and get used to the gameplay mechanics. You will be able to explore the tunnels in Cloaca Maxima with Adol, Doll, and Raging Bull. Dry Moat Ruins will give you access to Adol, Raging Bull, and Hawk instead.
The story of Ys IX: Monstrum Nox takes place in the mysterious city of Balduq, a place that harbors one of the biggest prisons in the Romun Empire. Adol “the Red” Christin is the main character of the new adventure but he will share protagonism with other five characters, all of them Monstrums. All of them are beings with supernatural powers that will allow you to explore the streets of Balduq and fight to your heart's content in an epic adventure as you discover the cause of the unrest within the city
