Following the latest update packed with controversial changes, a bombardment of negative reviews on Metacritic, and even a public apology from Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi, the company acknowledged the whiplash. It then proceeded to fix most of the issues on Gran Turismo 7 most significant update.
Sony and Polyphony Digital announced the release of update 1.11 for Gran Turismo 7, which brought several improvements to the game, including an increase in the amount of credits players can earn by playing in several modes. If you check the update notes, you will see how most improvements regard an increase in rewards. Finally, players can buy cars in Gran Turismo 7 without mimicking real life.
This reward boost is greater in the events of the second half of the World Tour. In addition, credits are now provided after completing all Gold and Bronze circuit layouts. Those who have already done so can simply enter and exit the sector selection screen to earn the prizes. The number of rewards in Lobbies and Daily Races has also been increased.
Le Mans, Sardegna, and Tokyo Expressway have been added to World Circuit mode. Endurance races grant more generous payouts. Players who reach Collector Level 23 can do the Missions "The Human Comedy," containing 1-hour endurance races. Each endurance race will earn you up to 1.2 million credits. The update also increased the limit cap of credits in players' wallets from 20 million to 100 million and the amount of Used and Legendary cars being offered at any given time.
In terms of adjustments, some cars had their design fixed. Car physics simulation had improvements in landing after a jump and corrections in speedometer in online matches. Some issues on the race penalty were also resolved; quality image of smoke in Race Photos; pit starting position for the Daytona International Speedway tri-oval, and many more were fixed.
Even though the release of Gran Turismo 7 pleased critics, the problems with microtransactions, trouble earning in-game credits, and limited cars with tight acquisition timeframes were frustrating the players' experience. Now with update 1.11, let's hope the game becomes the hallmark racing simulator it deserves to be.
